| What is positive? | The 6x4 prints are ok. The colour and contrast is good |
| What is negative? | The 9x6's are aweful. Don't use them for the bigger prints. |
| Summary | I recently purchased 121 6x4 inch digital photo prints along with 52 at 9x6 inch. I'm quite happy with the 6x4's but the 9x6's are terrible. This is the first time i've had prints processed online but i have used the Boots store in Tunbridge Wells before for 9x6 digital prints and was impressed. I have a reasonably decent 8.2mp camera and have never looked at my prints in the past and thought they looked like they were shot on a digital camera - that is, until now. I can clearly see from two feet away that it is digital and on closer inspection, can see fine pixilation. For instance, this shows up more on landscape photos with small detailed objects in the background. Edges of buildings and window detail are pixilated and the use of dark ink in small areas is very harsh and unnatural looking. The only images that were editted were ones turned to black and white or sepia so there should not be any quality loss from editting. To prove that the prints are bad, i printed one of the landscape photos at just over 9x6 inch on Kodak ultra glossy photo paper at home on a very standard printer and didn't have any of the problems that i've described above. |
